School’s back in session. Well, okay, you got me. We’ve been back in our routine for over two months. (What kind of mother takes this long to post first day of school pics? Well, me.)
I couldn’t get myself to post photos of Linus’ first day of school. This year, going to preschool was the real deal. No lazy mornings and playing until mom was done with all the cleaning and morning prep work. Nope. It was all business.
Get up. Eat breakfast. Change. Brush and wash up. Get ready and go.
Linus’ school is a huge place – several preschool classes going at the same time. It’s a big production. And for our little guy, it felt a little overwhelming.
Well, we gave our trial run a shot. Off we went for a pre-one-hour class. (Who knew such a thing existed?)
Things were looking okay until about 30 minutes into the class. After our trial run, I wasn’t sure if this kid was going to make it to school on the first day. He’s the only one in the entire hallway full of kids who did NOT smile for his locker photo.
Then the morning arrived. Linus was not feeling it. And the foggy weather clearly demonstrated his mood. Poor guy. He felt sad, lonely, and empty – like this playground.
Linus cried and begged us to not go to school.
It has taken several weeks, but I’m happy to report that things are better.
The playground still represents his feelings, which is still empty. It’s going to take some time for him to develop some relationships. But that’s all in due time.
