Are you looking to make a great party favor gift for your child’s Pirate-Themed Party?
Then look no further! This is a tested craft project that you can make at home for your child and his/her friends and make a walk ye plank splash! Just take a look at the decorations I made for my friend’s daughter’s pirate-themed birthday party.
Several large pieces of cardboard
Colored construction paper or card stock paper of your choice
Marker or pen
X-ACTO Knife or box cutter
Glue or Aleene’s Tacky glue
Flat heavy books or objects (optional)
Step 1. Print out pirate sword template.

Step 2. Cut template and tape together.
Step 3. Trace pirate sword template with pen or marker onto 2 separate pieces of cardboard.
Step 4. Carve out both pirate sword designs with the X-ACTO knife or box cutter.
Step 5. Tape or glue both pieces of cardboard together.
- If using glue, place flat heavy books or objects on top of pirate sword. (slow method)
- If using tape, continuously wrap tape around the entire pirate sword. (fast method)
Step 6. Pull long strips of aluminum foil to wrap around the top portion of the sword.
Step 7. Wrap clear tape around top portion of the sword to secure aluminum foil.
Step 8. Using page 3 of template (handle), cut handle portion from template.
Step 9. Using colored construction paper or cardstock of your choosing, trace handle template design (2x’s).
Step 10. Cut and glue colored paper handles on top of cardboard on both sides.
Step 11. Voila! Project complete!
Note: These cardboard pirate swords can bend easily during rough play or even accidentally bumping it into a wall. Handle with care. =)
